Here you can find some instructions on how to care about your product. Please always look at the care label before washing your garment. If you are still not sure how to wash your product, please do not hesitate to contact us.

It is always important to make sure before washing that the detergent compartment of your washing machine is clear of any detergent or softener (for the reasons described below). You may wish to run your washing machine on a hot wash with nothing in it to clear any residues from detergent or softeners.

Icelandic Wool:

Hand wash only or use a dry cleaner that has the properties and care requirements needed to wash Icelandic wool. Use lukewarm water when hand washing. Use very mild soap or special wool soap. Soak the garment for about 10-15 mins. Do not rub or wring. Rinse thoroughly in lukewarm water. Wrap in towels and squeeze out as much water as possible. Lay the garment flat out on a towel and pull gently into shape. Do not hang your Icelandic wool product, since the weight of the water will stretch the wool. It is a good rule to fold the sleeves across the body of the sweater so they don't stretch.

Lined Sweaters:

Hand wash only or use a dry cleaner. To hand wash, use lukewarm water. Use very mild soap or special wool soap. Soak the garment for about 10-15 mins. Do not rub or wring. Rinse thoroughly in lukewarm water. Wrap in towels and squeeze out as much water as possible. Lay the garment flat out on a towel and pull gently into shape. Do not hang your lined sweaters, since the weight of the water will stretch the wool. It is a good rule to fold the sleeves across the body of the sweater so they don't stretch.

Wool Blankets:

It is recommended that you occasionally put your wool blankets outdoors in the fresh air for a couple of hours. If more washing is required, we suggest dry cleaning only. For your Icelandic wool blankets, please use a dry cleaner that is familiar with the care requirements for Icelandic wool.

Soft Shell Jackets:

Only use detergents that are specifically designed for technical apparel. It is recommended to close all zippers and wash the jacket inside out. It is critical to use the correct laundry detergent so as to not ruin the water repellent surface of the soft shell product. Never use fabric softener, water softener or bleach when washing soft shell products.

Icewear Down Jackets:

Before washing your light down jacket make sure all zippers, Velcro patches and flaps are closed and turn product inside out. Use detergent specifically designed for down or technical outerwear. Household detergent and softener will damage the down and also strip the fabric of its water resistant coating. Tumble drying is the best way to fluff the down back into shape. However, do not set the dryer to high heat as this may damage the seams and outer shell fabric.

Angora Sweaters

Please take care and follow the washing label when washing your Icewear Angora sweater. We always recommend dry-cleaning your delicate sweaters. If the washing labels indicate hand wash, please follow these simple instructions. Hand wash using lukewarm water. Use clear natural liquid soap. Do not use any soap that contains dyes or perfumes. Gently submerge the sweater and soak the garment for about 10-15 mins. Do not rub or wring. Rinse thoroughly but gently without twisting or wringing in lukewarm water. Wrap in towels and squeeze out as much water as possible. Lay the garment flat out on a towel and pull gently into shape. Do not hang your angora product, since the weight of the water will stretch the wool; it is a good rule to fold sleeves across the body of the sweater so they don't stretch.
